When Steve’s wife, Kathy and
he started Ouachita Rehabilitation and Fitness Center, 70% of Mena’s
population was 65 and older. They designed the center for seniors
as well as physical therapy, occupational therapy, post operative
services , plus a fitness center that’s open to the general
public. Mena, in west central Arkansas, has a community population
is 5,700 with a trade population of 25-30,000. Their center is
unique for a town of this size. Originally opened February 1998,
August 2004 made their 4th and final expansion for a new total
of 11,000 sq. ft. The facility expanded into an adjacent 4,000
sq. ft. pharmacy building that vacated. Among their services offered
is a spacious 1,200 sq. ft. aerobic room with an exerflex floor
system; a swimex therapy pool; and Neurocom Balance System, in
addition massage therapists are available.
In 1997 Steve and Kathy Schulte toured the Paramount Fitness
manufacturing plant in Los Angeles, CA. Steve states, “ After
researching all available brands we concluded Paramount equipment
was the best value out there. Our center has all Paramount, both
old and new, from the Plate Loaded Series to Advanced Performance
System single-stations. We have been very satisfied with the
equipment. Our staff keeps the equipment clean and in good condition
and it is well received by all ages. We have become a special
needs center as our rehab patients tend to continue their exercise
program as fitness center members. We offer personal training
for young and old through the guidance of our certified personal
trainer, exercise physiologist and physical therapy staff.” |
